Japanese Full Moon Maple - Mr. Sun

A very unique Full Moon Maple in respect to its foliage. The normal sized leaves consist of long, narrow lobes which are rolled under. New spring leaves emerge green with a slight reddish hue but mature fully to green by summer. Fall brings a mix of yellows, oranges, and reds. Grows 7′ high by 4′ wide in a 10 year period.

Origin

Parentage unknown. Originated as a seedling. Discovered and introduced by Buchholz Nursery of Oregon. Named after a child's drawing of the sun.

Special Notes

Exposure: Full Sun to Part Sun or all day indirect/filtered light.

Soil: Well workable, moist but well draining slightly acidic soil. Dislikes heavy clay soils.

Maintenance: Selective pruning as needed, can be done during winter up until early August.
