Acer palmatum ‘Yama nishiki’
Japanese Maple - Snow Peak
A semi-dwarf, variegated Japanese Maple considered to be an improvement on ‘Higasayama’. New reticulated leaves emerge white with green veins mimicking snow peaks on mountains. Leaves gradually fade to solid green by summer and transition to orange-red in the fall. Grows 8-10′ high by 6′ wide in a 10 year period.

Parentage unknown.
Special Notes
Exposure: Part Sun or all day indirect/filtered light. Protected from the hot mid-day sun.
Soil: Well workable, moist but well draining slightly acidic soil. Dislikes heavy clay soils.
Maintenance: Selective pruning as needed, can be done during winter up until early August.
Variegation is dependent on environmental conditions. Some years the plant can be heavily variegated and the next it could appear almost entirely green or somewhere in between.
