
Acer palmatum ‘Superbum’
Japanese Maple - Attraction / Superbum
Large leaves emerge bright red in the spring and turns to a purple-red by summer but not as deep as the similar ‘Bloodgood’ variety. Crimson red colour is experienced in the fall. Vigorous, upright, growing 10′ high by 8′ wide in a 10 year period.

Origin
Seedling from Acer palmatum f. atropurpureum. Originated from Japan and first imported into the Netherlands in 1970.

Special Notes
Exposure: Full Sun to Part Sun or all day indirect/filtered light.
Soil: Well workable, moist but well draining slightly acidic soil. Dislikes heavy clay soils.
Maintenance: Selective pruning as needed, can be done during winter up until early August.
