Japanese Maple - Saiho

A very dense and compact, dwarf growing Japanese Maple. Small leaves emerge a light green in spring with a purplish-red margin. By summer these margins have faded to completely green with a second flush of foliage producing even smaller leaves than the spring. Fall colour is a reddish-orange. The trunk is thick to size up making this of preference to bonsai. Grows 3′ high by 2.5′ wide in a 10 year period.

Special Notes

Exposure: Full Sun to Part Sun or all day indirect/filtered light.

Soil: Well workable, moist but well draining slightly acidic soil. Dislikes heavy clay soils.

Maintenance: Selective pruning as needed, can be done during winter up until early August.
