Acer palmatum ‘Rugose’

Acer palmatum ‘Rugose’

Japanese Maple - Rugose

An ugly duckling of a Japanese Maple. Dull bronzy spring leaves take on a greenish tone by summer with rough, wrinkled surfaces. If this is all the plant had to offer, almost no one would be interested but at last, its true inner beauty emerges during the fall with vivid shades of red. No two leaves are the same size or shape. Branches and shoots can twist as well. Grows 7′ high by 4′ wide in a 10 year period.
