Japanese Maple - Royle

A stunning dwarf Japanese Maple! Small, irregularly shaped leaves emerge bright pinkish-red and change to red before transitioning to purplish-red by summer. During fall, the foliage changes to a stunning crimson. Grows 4′ high by 3′ wide in a 10 year period.

Origin

Found as a witch's broom on Acer palmatum f. atropurpureum by Joseph Stupka. Named by William Schwartz after his wife's family.

Special Notes

Exposure: Full Sun to Part Sun or all day indirect/filtered light.

Soil: Well workable, moist but well draining slightly acidic soil. Dislikes heavy clay soils.

Maintenance: Selective pruning as needed, can be done during winter up until early August.
