Japanese Maple - Pine Bark

A highly sought after Japanese Maple for bonsai due to is trunk and branches which develop corky rough bark, mimicking a pine. This corky bark is much more pronounced than the more common variety ‘Arakawa’. Small light green spring leaves emerge with a slight red edge and mature to solid green by summer. Foliage changes to yellows and reds during fall. Grows 10′ high by 6′ wide in a 10 year period.

Exposure: Full Sun to Part Sun or all day indirect/filtered light.

Soil: Well workable, moist but well draining slightly acidic soil. Dislikes heavy clay soils.

Maintenance: Selective pruning as needed, can be done during winter up until early August.
