Acer palmatum ‘Kenbu’

Japanese Maple - Kenbu

A Japanese Maple with deeply lobed, ribbon-style leaves which mimics the look of Bamboo. New green leaves emerge in the spring and can take on a reddish-bronzy tinge by summer. The foliage transitions to an orangey-red fall colour. Grows 6′ high by 4′ wide in a 10 year period.

Origin

Offspring of Acer palmatum 'Shinobu ga oka'. Introduced in Japan in 1990.

Special Notes

Exposure: Part Sun or all day indirect/filtered light. Protected from the hot mid-day sun.

Soil: Well workable, moist but well draining slightly acidic soil. Dislikes heavy clay soils.

Maintenance: Selective pruning as needed, can be done during winter up until early August.
