Japanese Maple - Kara ori nishiki

A slow growing, slender, upright Japanese Maple with variegated leaves. New spring leaves emerge reddish with a white/pink variegation on the margins. These margins can be either very subtle to very pronounced depending on the leaf. By summer, colour transitions to a more green tone with a yellowish margin. Fall colour starts off with yellow and changes to crimson. Grows 6′ high by 4′ wide in a 10 year period.

Special Notes

Exposure: Part Sun or all day indirect/filtered light. Protected from the hot mid-day sun.

Soil: Well workable, moist but well draining slightly acidic soil. Dislikes heavy clay soils.

Maintenance: Selective pruning as needed, can be done during winter up until early August.
