Japanese Maple - Gold Dust of Iijima
An upright, dark-leafed variegated Japanese Maple with large leaves that emerge rich-red with a hint or orange and green veins. In the summer, the leaves change to a more regular purplish colour with dusted irregular green dots. Throughout late summer into fall this variegation is intensified till the leaves change to colours of reds, yellows and oranges. Grows 8′ high by 4′ wide in a 10 year period.

Origin
Parentage unknown. Listed in the 1882 Sekihin Binran.
Special Notes
Exposure: Full Sun to Part Sun or all day indirect/filtered light.
Soil: Well workable, moist but well draining slightly acidic soil. Dislikes heavy clay soils.
Maintenance: Selective pruning as needed, can be done during winter up until early August.
