Japanese Maple - Dr. Seuss

A dwarf Japanese Maple with unusually shaped leaves giving it a whimsical appearance. New small leaves emerge a bronze-green transitioning to medium green with a subtle yellow variegation by summer. In the fall, the foliage changes to yellow-orange. Grows 5′ high by 3′ wide in a 10 year period.

Parentage unknown. Introduced by Buchholz Nursery, Oregon.

Special Notes

Exposure: Part Sun or all day indirect/filtered light. Protected from the hot mid-day sun.

Soil: Well workable, moist but well draining slightly acidic soil. Dislikes heavy clay soils.

Maintenance: Selective pruning as needed, can be done during winter up until early August.
