Azalea ‘Asahi zuru’
Azalea - Satsuki - Morning Crane
An old variety of Satsuki Azalea with large 2.5″-3″ single flowers. Typically, the flowers are pale yellow-pink with red throat blotches but can also be edged in white or completely orange-red. Blooms late May. Grows 2.5′ high by 2′ wide.

Origin
Parentage unknown. Introduced before 1938.
Special Notes
Exposure: Morning Sun, afternoon shade or all day filtered light. Protect from the hot mid-day sun. Protect from the prevailing winter winds, plant in a sheltered location.
Soil: A very acidic, moist but well draining soil is required. Avoid heavy compacted soils such as clay.
Maintenance: Selective pruning right after flowering in done. Dead-heading is recommended for increased flower production the following year.
