Acer palmatum ‘Bihou’
Japanese Maple - Beautiful Mountain Range
A yellow-bark form of Japanese Maple. Small yellow-green leaves emerge in the spring which mature a light green by summer and eventually changing to a yellow-gold fall colour. The main feature of this maple is its stunning yellow bark which is accentuated during the cooler winter months. Grows 8′ high by 3′ wide in a 10 year period.

Origin
Parentage unknown. Introduced by Masayoshi Yano (Japan) in 1993.
Special Notes
Exposure: Full Sun to Part Sun or all day indirect/filtered light.
Soil: Well workable, moist but well draining slightly acidic soil. Dislikes heavy clay soils.
Maintenance: Selective pruning as needed, can be done during winter up until early August.
Group: Palmatum
While not as finicky as red coral-bark Japanese Maples, it is still recommended to be planted in a well protected area out of prevailing winter winds to help avoid fluctuating temperatures which can cause tissue dieback.
