Rhododendron ‘Kalinka’
Rhododendron - Kalinka
An elepidote, dwarf growing Rhododendron. 1 1/2″ rose-pink flowers have ruffled red edges and a yellowish-green blotch. Blooms late midseason in trusses of 12-16 flowers. Dark green leaves contain brown indumentum. Dense growing 2.5-3′ high and wide in a 10 year period.

Origin
Hybrid seedling of Rhododendron 'Morgenrot' and an unnamed Rhododendron 'Mars' hybrid (R. 'Mars' x R. degronianum ssp yakushimanum 'Koichiro Wada'). Introduced by Hans Hachmann of Germany in 1983.
Special Notes
Exposure: Morning Sun, afternoon shade or all day filtered light. Protect from the hot mid-day sun. Protect from the prevailing winter winds, plant in a sheltered location.
Soil: A very acidic, moist but well draining soil is required. Avoid heavy compacted soils such as clay.
Maintenance: Selective pruning right after flowering in done. Dead-heading is recommended for increased flower production the following year.
