Brewer’s Spruce

A large, broadly conical Spruce. Long slender branches spread outwards with pendulous branchlets mimicking the appearance of a Weeping Nootka Cypress. New shoots emerge reddish-brown and mature gray. Needles are glossy green. Cones are 8-12cm long, emerge green, mature purple and eventually reddish-brown. Grows 6′ high by 4′ wide in a 10 year period.

Native to Southwestern Oregon and Northwestern California.

Exposure: Full Sun to Part Sun.

Soil: Adaptable to various soils. Prefers slightly acidic soils.
