An extremely cold hardy, elepidote, tall growing Rhododendron. Large 3″ wavy edged flowers are pale pink with a salmon-red blotch. Blooms late season in trusses of 12-18 flowers. Grows 6′ high by 4′ wide in a 10 year period.

Origin

Parentage unknown. Rhododendron brachycarpum ssp tigerstedtii hybrid or selection. Introduced by Dr. Marjatta Uosukainen of the Univeristy of Finland in 1974.

Special Notes

Exposure: Morning Sun, afternoon shade or all day filtered light. Protect from the hot mid-day sun. Protect from the prevailing winter winds, plant in a sheltered location.

Soil: A very acidic, moist but well draining soil is required. Avoid heavy compacted soils such as clay.

Maintenance: Selective pruning right after flowering in done. Dead-heading is recommended for increased flower production the following year.
