Rhododendron - Blue Baron
An lepidote, medium growing Rhododendron. Wavy 1 1/2″ flowers are near blue in colour and are born in clusters of 20 flowers. Blooms early midseason. Glossy, dark green leaves turn bronze in winter. Compact, grows 3′ high by 2′ wide in a 10 year period.

Origin
Hybrid seedling of Rhododendron 'Gletschernacht' and Rhododendron 'Waltham'. Bred by Ed Mezitt of Weston Nurseries, Massachusetts in 1981.
Special Notes
Exposure: Morning Sun, afternoon shade or all day filtered light. Protect from the hot mid-day sun. Protect from the prevailing winter winds, plant in a sheltered location.
Soil: A very acidic, moist but well draining soil is required. Avoid heavy compacted soils such as clay.
Maintenance: Selective pruning right after flowering in done. Dead-heading is recommended for increased flower production the following year.
