Witch Hazel - Hybrid - Savill Starlight

A dwarf Witch Hazel! This compact shrub has yellow flowers with a green calyx born along bare stems during mid-to-late winter. Flowers are scentless. Dark greenish-gray leaves turn yellow in fall. Grows 4-5′ high by 6-7′ wide.

Origin

Parentage unknown. Discovered at the Savill Garden, England by John Bond in 1994. Prehaps a seedling of Hamamelis japonica 'Zuccariniana' and Hamamelis x intermedia 'Pallida'.

Special Notes

Exposure: Full Sun to Part Sun.

Soil: Tolerant of various soils but prefers a well draining one, slightly acidic.

Maintenance: Selective trimming in spring right after the flowers have finished. Do not trim in fall, as flower buds have already been set.
