Witch Hazel - Ozark - Burnt Mahogany

A medium sized Witch Hazel with tightly-bunched orange-red flowers having a maghogany calyx (eye). Flowers appear in late winter/early spring on leafless branches. Foliage emerges a stunning burnt mahogany colour before transitioning to green for the summer and turning an outstanding gold fall colour. Grows about 12′ high and wide.

Origin

Parentage unknown. Introduced by Jim Zampini of Lake Country Nursery, Ohio in 2011.

Special Notes

Exposure: Full Sun to Part Sun.

Soil: Tolerant of various soils but prefers a well draining one, slightly acidic.

Maintenance: Selective trimming in spring right after the flowers have finished. Do not trim in fall, as flower buds have already been set.
