A medium European Beech. Forms a large compact mound of strongly dissected purple-red leaves which mature bronzy by summer. Grows 40′ high by 30′ wide.

Origin
Parentage unknown. Thought to be a cross of Fagus sylvatica 'Brocklesby' and Fagus sylvatica 'Laciniata'. Found on the grounds of Prince Camille de Rohan estate of Czechoslovakia in 1888.
Special Notes
Exposure: Full Sun to Part Sun.
Soil: Prefers moist, well draining soils. Dislikes heavy compacted clay.
Maintenance: Selective pruning as needed from spring to early August.
