NATIVE – A wonderful small tree. Known for its magenta-rose pea-like flowers which bloom before foliage emerges in the early spring (April) and lasts 2-3 weeks. Green heart-shaped leaves turn yellow in fall. Grows 15-20′ high and wide.

Origin

Native to much Eastern and Central North America including Point Pelee, Ontario.

Special Notes

Exposure: Full Sun to Part Sun. Shelter from winter winds.

Soil: Prefers moist, well draining soils. Dislikes heavy compacted clay or very sandy dry soils.

Maintenance: Selective pruning to shape right after flowering. Remove dead wood in early spring.
