Japanese Full Moon Maple - Purple Thunder
A purple Japanese Full Moon Maple! New spring leaves emerge dark purple and are cupped downwards. Foliage fades to burgundy by summer but lights up again in fall, changing to fiery red. Grows 10′ high by 6′ wide in a 10 year period.

Origin
Parentage unknown. Introduced by Buchholz Nursery, Oregon in 2007. Possible hybrid with Acer palmatum.
Special Notes
Exposure: Full Sun to Part Sun or all day indirect/filtered light.
Soil: Well workable, moist but well draining slightly acidic soil. Dislikes heavy clay soils.
Maintenance: Selective pruning as needed, can be done during winter up until early August.
