Japanese Maple - Sherwood Elfin

A dwarf version of ‘Burgundy Lace’ Japanese Maple. While not a true dissectum (cutleaf), its foliage sure looks very close. Small bright red foliage emerges in spring transitioning to a dark red/maroon summer colour and purple-red fall colours. Grows 2.5′ high by 3′ wide in a 10 year period.

Origin

Found as a chance seedling of 'Sherwood Flame'.

Special Notes

Exposure: Part Sun or all day indirect/filtered light. Protected from the hot mid-day sun.

Soil: Well workable, moist but well draining slightly acidic soil. Dislikes heavy clay soils.

Maintenance: Selective pruning as needed, can be done during winter up until early August.
