Such a fascinating dwarf Japanese Maple! You can think of it as an ever so slightly smaller yet more prominent version of ‘Sekka yatsubusa’ with growth being heavily fasciated in time. As the fasciated branches grow and twist, it mimics the tail of a pig. New spring leaves emerge dark green with a slight purple margin. These leaves lighten to a mid-green by summer with a second flush of growth emerging salmon pink. Foliage turns orange and red during fall. Grows 5′ high by 3′ wide in a 10 year period.
