
Acer palmatum ‘Hino tori nishiki’
Japanese Maple - Firebird
A semi-dwarf Japanese Maple. Small spring leaves emerge a breathtaking bright pink quickly changing to green with a hint of pink for the remainder of the year until fall, when the leaves transition to red, orange and yellow. Somewhat similar to Deshojo but much more divided leaves. Grows 8′ high by 6′ wide in a 10 year period.

Origin
Introduced by Dick Van der Maat Nursery in Boskoop, Netherlands.
Special Notes
Exposure: Full Sun to Part Sun or all day indirect/filtered light.
Soil: Well workable, moist but well draining slightly acidic soil. Dislikes heavy clay soils.
Maintenance: Selective pruning as needed, can be done during winter up until early August.
