Japanese Maple - Flower Snowstorm

A variegated Japanese Maple which is best described as a smaller version of the traditional ‘Butterfly’ variety. New spring green leaves are edged with brilliant pink splashes which the amounts can vary leaf to leaf. Leaves typically have a distorted shape to them as well. The pink variegation changes to more of a creamy-white by summer. In the fall, leaves change to orange. Grows 6′ high by 4′ wide in a 10 year period.

Origin

Parentage unknown. Introduced by Tsukasa Nursery, Japan in 1999.

Special Notes

Exposure: Part Sun or all day indirect/filtered light. Protected from the hot mid-day sun.

Soil: Well workable, moist but well draining slightly acidic soil. Dislikes heavy clay soils.

Maintenance: Selective pruning as needed, can be done during winter up until early August.

Group: Palmatum
