Origin

Found as a witch's broom on Acer palmatum 'Sango kaku' from the Blue Mountains in Australia.

Special Notes

Exposure: Full Sun to Part Sun or all day indirect/filtered light. Must be planted in a well protected area out of the prevailing winds.

Soil: Well workable, moist but well draining slightly acidic soil. Dislikes heavy clay soils.

Maintenance: Selective pruning as needed, can be done during winter up until early August.

Group: Palmatum

Being part of the coral bark family of Japanese Maples, caution is strongly recommended to be planted in a very sheltered area. Coral bark maples are very sensitive to temperature changes often leading to tissue dieback on the branches. An extremely fluctuating winter can lead to complete demise.
