Acer palmatum ‘Emperor 1’

Acer palmatum ‘Emperor 1’

Japanese Maple - Emperor 1

A slightly improved version of ‘Bloodgood’ in the fact its foliage leafs out a bit later in spring so it’s less susceptible to spring frost. Large leaves emerge bright red in the spring and change to a reddish-purple for most of the season till fall when it becomes a more intense red. Grows 10′ high by 8′ wide in a 10 year period. Although some references consider the colouration to be more translucent than ‘Bloodgood’ and growth rate can differ a bit, from our experience they are pretty much uniform.
