Azalea ‘Shugetsu’
Azalea - Satsuki - Autumn Moon
An old variety of Satsuki Azalea with a wide, upright growth habit. Flowering late mid-season with 2.5-3″ wide flowers which are typically white with a purple-red margin. Occasionally, flowers can be almost completely purplish-red or white with purple stripes. Grows 2.5′ high and wide.

Origin
Sport of Azalea 'Aikoku'. Introduced in 1939.
Special Notes
Exposure: Morning Sun, afternoon shade or all day filtered light. Protect from the hot mid-day sun. Protect from the prevailing winter winds, plant in a sheltered location.
Soil: A very acidic, moist but well draining soil is required. Avoid heavy compacted soils such as clay.
Maintenance: Selective pruning right after flowering in done. Dead-heading is recommended for increased flower production the following year.
