
Acer palmatum ‘Umegae’
Japanese Maple - Plum Branch
Small leaves emerge a nice brick-red colour in the spring and transitions to a deeper purplish-red by summer with contrasting green central veins. In the fall, foliage transforms to orange-yellow in colour. Grows 8′ high by 4′ wide in a 10 year period.

Parentage unknown. Listed since 1882.
Special Notes
Exposure: Full Sun to Part Sun or all day indirect/filtered light.
Soil: Well workable, moist but well draining slightly acidic soil. Dislikes heavy clay soils.
Maintenance: Selective pruning as needed, can be done during winter up until early August.
