Japanese Maple - Tattoo

A dwarf, compact Japanese Maple similar to ‘Mikawa yatsubusa’ with overlapping leaves but slower growing with smaller leaves. Light yellow new spring leaves emerge bunched up but unfurl to a nice green summer foliage. It transitions to orange fall colour. Grows 2′ high by 3′ wide in a 10 year period.

Parentage unknown. Discovered and named by William Schwartz of Pennsylvania.

Special Notes

Exposure: Full Sun to Part Sun or all day indirect/filtered light.

Soil: Well workable, moist but well draining slightly acidic soil. Dislikes heavy clay soils.

Maintenance: Selective pruning as needed, can be done during winter up until early August.
