Acer palmatum ‘Jiro shidare’
Japanese Maple - Jiro's Casscading
A unique Japanese Maple in the fact that it is one of the very few broadleaf (not cutleaf) varieties that has a cascading/weeping habit. New spring small leaves are deeply divided and emerge yellow-green with bronze tips, transitioning to a solid green by summer. Fall foliage is fantastic orange to crimson colours. Grows 6′ high by 4′ wide in a 10 year period.

Origin
Parentage unknown. Introduced by Kobayashi Maple Nursery in Japan and named after Jiro Kobayashi.
Special Notes
Exposure: Full Sun to Part Sun or all day indirect/filtered light.
Soil: Well workable, moist but well draining slightly acidic soil. Dislikes heavy clay soils.
Maintenance: Selective pruning as needed, can be done during winter up until early August.
