Japanese Maple - Elizabeth

A wonderful, dwarf, compact Japanese Maple. Deeply divided small leaves emerge bright pinkish-red in spring and mature to purple-red by summer. A second summer flush of foliage brings the return of the bright pinkish-reds again. Fall foliage is brilliant scarlet red. Grows 3-4′ high and wide in a 10 year period.

Origin

Parentage unknown. Originated as a witch's broom found by Edward Rodd of Raraflora Nursery, Pennsylvania in 1988. Named after his wife "Elizabeth".

Special Notes

Exposure: Full Sun to Part Sun or all day indirect/filtered light.

Soil: Well workable, moist but well draining slightly acidic soil. Dislikes heavy clay soils.

Maintenance: Selective pruning as needed, can be done during winter up until early August.
