Japanese Full Moon Maple - Gossamer

A dwarf Full Moon Maple with extremely lacy foliage (probably the most lacy of all the Full Moon Maples). Silvery-green foliage emerges in the spring and transitions to green by summer. In the fall, foliage turns a nice orangy-red colour with potentials of purple and yellow thrown in the mix. Grows 4′ high by 3′ wide in a 10 year period.

Origin

Parentage unknown. Chance seedling found by Billy Schwartz at Red Maple Nursery, Pennsylvania. Hybrid between Acer japonicum and Acer palmatum dissectum.

Special Notes

Exposure: Part Sun or all day indirect/filtered light. Protected from the hot mid-day sun.

Soil: Well workable, moist but well draining slightly acidic soil. Dislikes heavy clay soils.

Maintenance: Selective pruning as needed, can be done during winter up until early August.
