Witch Hazel - Hybrid - Birgit
A medium sized Witch Hazel featuring the darkest red flowers of all! These lightly fragrant flowers born on bare stems in late winter with dark red calyx. Foliage emerges green with bronze tones in spring before maturing to a mid-green by summer and transitioning to shades of yellow-orange-red during the fall. Grows 12′ high by 15′ wide.

Origin
Parentage unknown. Introduced by the De Belder family of Belgium in 1986 at Kalmhout Arboretum.
Special Notes
Exposure: Full Sun to Part Sun.
Soil: Tolerant of various soils but prefers a well draining one, slightly acidic.
Maintenance: Selective trimming in spring right after the flowers have finished. Do not trim in fall, as flower buds have already been set.
